Bass fishing is fun, but bass catching is better!
THIS SITE IS ABOUT BASS FISHING. More than that it focuses on how to best use the limited time we have to fish. Most every angler spends more time working than fishing, and it can be painful to look outside at a beautiful day while you are at work. Boy, I'd rather be fishing! I was lucky enough to grow up in Upstate New York fishing and hunting. New York you say? Isn't that all cities and concrete? Big negative. Ever hear of Lake Ontario or Lake Erie? How about Lake Champlain or Oneida Lake? If you are a pro bass fisherman you now exactly what I'm talking about. New York has some of the best fishing in the world, period. I don't work for the tourism department, I just really appreciate the great fishing here. We have one big problem though, it's called WINTER! If you watch the national weather you will see temperatures of -30F and snowfall measured in feet per storm. That can put quite a damper on the bass fishing (unless you go through the ice!). ______________________________ ARE YOU IN A SLUMP? WANT TO TAKE YOUR BASS FISHING TO THE NEXT LEVEL? I learned straight away to prepare for each fishing trip ahead of time. The season is short and very precious to folks up here! After all, we only have two seasons: Winter and road construction. But seriously, when you spend 6 months out of the year preparing to fish, you learn a thing or two. Read every article you can get your hands on, and learn the water you are going to fish inside and out. How many times have you seen a bass fishing pro pluck fish after fish out of the water? It looks like he is fishing out of an aquarium. Is it possible? The good news is...YES! Turn this...

______________________________ I've been skunked and I've had days so good that I thought the bass could be caught with bare hands. Don't think the fishing pros don't have bad days. If they didn't, they would win every tournament. Right? DO YOU WANT TO FISH WITH THE PROS? I DID, AND IT'S A REAL EYE OPENER! Speaking of tournaments, I was invited to participate in the 2009 Bassmaster Elite Series Marshal Program. Think about it, three days with three different pro bass fisherman on Oneida Lake. If you can't learn with an opportunity like that, you just can't learn!
You need a certain amount of lures. A fishing boat is a great help too. The problem with most fishermen is they focus TOO much on the gear, and not enough on the fish and structure. Not every fishing trip will outshine the last. But if you focus on bass habitat,seasonal and weather changes and a few basics, you will be on your way to better catches and the most important thing....Have fun!
