Cinch Knot

The next fishing knot is the improved cinch knot. It is at the extreme end of the line. This is the most used knot and the one that takes the most abuse. This knot will work on most kinds of line made.

The line is passed through the eye of the hook and wrapped around itself 5 to 10 times. This can be done by twisting the hook while holding the line.

The loose, or working end, of the line is the passed through the loop created near the eye of the hook.

Hold the working end, wet the wraps with spit or water and slide the wraps toward the eye. Pull the hook and line away from each other to tighten the knot. Wetting the line before tightening will prevent stretching and curling that weaken the line. Failing to do this will cost you when bass fishing because the knot WILL fail. This is especially true of fluorocarbon because it has very little stretch.
