Rapala DT

Rapala DT

The Rapala DT is probably the best made crankbait of it's kind. Rapala has always been famous for excellent design and function but this crankbait goes to the next level. It is engineered to get to it's depth quickly and stay there, allowing the fisherman to adjust speed and cadence.

In true Rapala form, it's Balsa wood construction and interior rattle provide the bass fisherman with another deadly weapon. The “DT” stands for “dives to” and with four depths (4,6,10 and 16 feet) you can completely cover the water column on most structure.

Another great feature of the Rapala DT flat is the flat side design. The benefits are three fold. First, the sides provide maximum flash for the bass to locate the bait quickly. Second, the flat sides produce a tight wiggle that works great all season long and mimics a baitfish perfectly. Third, the shape of the DT casts like a bullet up to 150 feet! So in windy conditions you can even cast into the wind a great distance. When fishing in very clear water you can stay back from structure to prevent spooking the bass and still keep your lure in the strike zone as long as possible.

Together with VMC Sure Set hooks , you will definitely catch more bass. The perfect action, in a long casting bait, that stays at depth. Now there is a hard act to follow! That's why Rapala is the trend setter in crankbaits.

The Rapala DT flat series crankbait is an all season lure. Small adjustments made by the angler will enough to keep it producing from pre-spawn until fall. You start by covering the shallow structures such as such as sunken wood and rocks with a DT-4. Hitting the obstacles, the coffin shaped lip will deflect the bait up and over, and a pause will make it turn around 180 degrees. This action dares the bass to strike, and they will! If the shallows don't produce the size you're after, head out deeper off the structure and change to the deeper version (DT-6,8,10 or 16) so you can still hit the bottom. A good change up is to slowly retrieve a DT-4 or DT-6 over deeper cover to trigger bass suspending and chasing baitfish. Smallmouth hunting shad or smelt, and largemouth on their bluegill bite, will find this irresistible.
